  • [New Feature] A new setting under “Preferences” – “Web pages” that lets you use your default browser as viewer for web pages instead of the bundled version of Chromium. Google Chrome, Mozilla FireFox, Opera and Internet Explorer are supported (not Edge).
  • [New Feature] Added the possibility to add a video stream from rtsp and http sources. You can also stream YouTube url’s, but it will not work for all videos and might stop working if YouTube suddenly changes their implementation. Use with caution.
  • [Improvement] Third-party application detection code (for detecting PowerPoint, Adobe Reader, etc) rewritten from scratch in .NET 4.6. Should make SlideDog start faster and not cause false positive anti virus warnings.

  • Because newer versions of VLC sometimes give the wrong “current time” in a video, the older, but more stable VLC 2.1.2 is now bundled in new installations of SlideDog. Re-install if you want this update.
  • Fixed a bug that caused videos to end too soon when looping was enabled.
  • Fixed a bug that caused LiveSharing screencapture to fail on PowerPoints, PDFs and videos.
  • NEW: Loop a single item in a playlist until you press “next”. Right-click on playlist to enable.
  • NEW: Jump directly to slide in other file (until now you had to resume where you left off).
  • NEW: Autoload a folder on startup. Useful for digital signage use cases.

We’ve issued a small update to the SlideDog Installer that gives you an option to use the stand-alone/portable version of VLC´╗┐ to play videos in SlideDog. This is good news for people wanting to run SlideDog on corporate computers with restricted accounts.

Choosing “VLC Portable” during installation will download the latest version of VLC and extract it into the SlideDog folder under “/VLCPortable”. SlideDog will look for vlc.exe in this folder by default, and secondary check your computer for a valid VLC installation.

If you want to use another version of VLC than the one SlideDog Installer automatically downloads and installs, just overwrite the contents of the “/VLCPortable” folder in your “C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Preseria\SlideDog”-folder.

v1.2.0 – Apr 29, 2013

In this latest release of SlideDog we’ve added a feature that makes it possible to stream YouTube clips directly and without showing ads or the YouTube user interface. To add a YouTube clip click on the “+” sign (add file button) and choose “YouTube”. Enter the URL in the dialog that pops up and you are good to go. SlideDog will pre load a few seconds of the video, but not the whole clip. You should be careful when using this feature on low-speed internet connections as video stuttering may occur. SlideDog will by default fetch a low-res version of the video clip. If a HD version is available and you think your internet connection can handle it, you can tick the check box next to “HD stream” in the “Add YouTube” dialog.

Additionally we’ve added support for Office PowerPoint 2007 and 2013 including 64-bit versions. You can still use PowerPoint Viewer 2010 to view PPT/PPTX files in SlideDog.

SlideDog version 1.1.1 would sometimes stop pre-loading the playlist when it contained web pages. This is now fixed. Everyone should update to version 1.1.2.

A Preferences Menu where you can configure things like:

PowerPoint:

  • Fixed issue where the famous “black screen after last slide” showed up a split second causing a short flash
  • Slide thumbnails are now correctly updated on Windows 8
  • Notes from previous slides are cleared when switching files in the middle of a PowerPoint

Prezi:

  • Fixed bug that prevented Prezi to go into full screen mode
  • Fixed bug that caused Prezi to not start at first position

Movies:

  • Fixed issue where movies would not start after being played to the end
  • Movie time now correctly shows up when seeking

In this latest update we’ve added the possibility for SlideDog Free users to try out the Pro features. When going Pro you’ll be able to play with the added features for fifteen minutes before SlideDog reverts back to “SlideDog Free” mode. This lets you see how the Dual Screen Setup works and how a custom background image will look for your presentation playlist.

  • Improved PowerPoint handling for a more seamless experience (the short flash of the black end of presentation slide when switcing from PowerPoint is gone)
